“The difference between a dream and a goal is an action plan.” ~ Brenda Horton
Brenda Horton is the co-creator of actionplanr.com, a productivity app designed to help busy women achieve their goals. At Passion into Action, Brenda will take you through her 5 step-by-step proven process on how to take your passions, ideas and dreams and turn them into achievable goals. Walk away with an action plan! Brenda got bit by the entrepreneurial bug when she launched her first Internet-based business in the late 90s and a company came knocking on her door asking to buy her business. She sold it and then moved to Nevada County. In 2010 Brenda founded Nevada County Online, a Meetup group that empowers local small businesses to leverage the digital world for their business. As a business coach, trainer, and speaker, Brenda has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs, executives, small business owners, and professionals achieve their goals. Brenda is an author in the making with her first business book for women. Follow Brenda Horton on Twitter, Facebook, and Google +. 1. What is your passion or purpose you are being called to bring into action right now? My purpose and passion is to empower entrepreneurial women all over the world by helping them take action on achieving their goals, pursuing their dreams, and bringing their projects to completion. In other words, I like helping women get things done and make things happen. 2. What were the motivating factors or defining moments that inspired you to get involved and share your passion? I believe the world is a much happier and better place when women are economically prosperous and thriving. It brings me great joy to know that I can play a role in that whether big or small. 3. What is your mantra or favorite quote you refer to when you seek inspiration or hope? It’s a familiar one, but I love it… is that we are powerful beyond measure. “It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ Marianne Williamson 4. Tell us about a moment recently when you were standing in your full power and purpose. It’s usually when I am teaching, speaking, training and coaching. I love sharing all that I am learning while here on planet Earth. 5. Why is the work you are doing so important for everyday women? The work I do is important to everyday women because their dreams and goals matter. However, the difference between a dream and a goal is an action plan. Goals require action steps, timelines, and measurements of success. Dreams are ideas made up of desires and wants. That’s a big difference. Helping women get clear on their vision and coming up with a plan of action minimizes the chaos and stress and brings clarity to the process. 6. Why is it so important for women to participate in an event like the Passion into Action Conference? When women come together for the purpose of supporting one another and sharing their stories, it is magical, fun, and empowering. Oftentimes, transformation takes place in settings like Passion into Action. 7. What are you hoping will be the biggest takeaways for women both at the Passion into Action Experience and your workshop? I hope women takeaway that they have the courage and confidence of “going for it.” I hope they realize that their dreams matter, their goals are achievable. It starts with a vision and plan of action. 8. What is your message to women around the world? Life is short. Don’t waste it on caring what others want for you. Do what YOU want. You’ll be much happier and so will the world.
